Kitewing is an Finnish invention. Sami Tuurna and Karl-Magnus Fogelholm started to develop the concept in Helsinki, end of the 80's. Ten years after, a young group of extreme snowboarders found a new use for the wing. They found out that the wing is perfectly conceived to jump and fly incredible distances.

In 1999, The Finnish extreme skier, Patrick Blom, executed a jump of 170 meter (560 feet) long. In 2004, the record is been broken. The athlete and helicopter pilot, Andreas Laurent, jumped 505 meters (1666 feet) long.

The Kitewing prior use is on flat ground, frozen lake, road, sand dune, grass field, etch. This new sport is gaining popularity quickly around the world.

The Kitewing is an ultra-light wing which is somewhere between a windsurfing sail and an small hang glider. You can use this wing to travel on any solid ground with skis, snowboard, skates, in-line skates, in-line board or any other things that can be use to slide or roll with.
